Description
PREGO iris is an SDB class variety, 21- 40 cm high, T.Johnson hybridizer, registered in 2018. Buy rhizomes with delivery across Russia at the IRISSAD nursery.Prego — a standard dwarf bearded iris (SDB) by American breeder Thomas Johnson, introduced in 2018. Thomas Johnson is a well-known name in the world of iris breeding, working at Mid-America Garden nursery. His SDB varieties are valued for their compact form and reliability in the garden.
The Standard Dwarf Bearded category occupies an intermediate position between miniature dwarfs (MDB) and intermediate bearded irises (IB), and usually produces proportionally folded flowers on short sturdy peduncles. Dwarf bearded irises like Prego bloom earlier than tall bearded irises — in the middle band of Russia, this is the first half of May, which helps to fill the transition between early bulbous plants and the main wave of irises.
The compact variety is perfect for the foreground of a mixborder, an alpine hill or a curb along a path, where its modest growth is scaled to low perennial neighbors. SDB irises form neat clumps and harmoniously combine with low-growing companions: phlox subulata, sedums, carnations and low ornamental grasses.
