Buy rhizomes with delivery across Russia at the IRISSAD nursery.Pallida Argentea Variegata — an old cultivar of the Iris pallida species, introduced in 1906 by the German breeding company Goos & Koenemann. The variety has survived more than a century in European gardens, and today it is valued primarily for its unique decorative foliage — a rare quality among irises.
The flowers are purple, of the classic shade of pale iris (Iris pallida). However, the main feature of the variety is indicated in the name itself: "Argentea Variegata" means silver-white variegation of the sword-shaped leaves. Light longitudinal stripes stretch along each leaf, creating the effect of a silver fountain. The foliage retains its bright variegation throughout the entire growing season, making the variety one of the few iris plants with year-round decorativeness.
This rare variety brings a vintage character to the garden. Variegated foliage becomes a luminous accent in mixed plantings and looks equally harmonious in modern compositions and in country style. Place it in a prominent place — the leaves retain their decorative appearance long before and after the appearance of purple flowers.
