Place Your Bets — a tall bearded iris from the American company Schreiner's Iris Gardens, introduced in 2007. Schreiner's has remained a leading breeding enterprise in the iris world for decades, and this variety demonstrates the precision and sophistication of their work.

The standards and style branches are painted in a rich dark purple tone (RHS 86A), which gives the upper part of the flower a regal sound. The falls are designed in a classic plicata pattern: a pure white background (155D) is crossed with dark purple (86A) strokes and dotted dashes along the edge. The beard is a bright accent of a golden yellow tone, balancing the cool purple and pure white color of the upper part. The contrast gives the composition graphic clarity.

Flowering is late-average — in the conditions of central Russia, this is the end of May — the beginning of June, after the main peak of bearded irises. The height of 107 cm makes the variety tall: it is suitable for the background of a mixborder. The classic plicate pattern combines magnificently with однотонными purple neighbors, pure white perennials and golden-leaved companions.
